Maintenance Planner

Festus, MO
This position's prime objective is to improve efficiency, reduce maintenance costs and improve equipment reliability through the implementation of planning and scheduling all corrective maintenance. In addition to daily planning and scheduling, all major shutdowns will be planned, executed, and monitored, utilizing Microsoft project.
Responsibilities:
  • The planner’s main focus will be on creating maintenance job plans. This position will identify all procedures, materials, spare parts, tools and labor requirements for the jobs. Gather information and catalogue it into the CMMS database.
  • Follow up on accuracy of maintenance job plans. Analyze and track maintenance planning effectiveness and solicit feedback on the maintenance job plans.
  • Provide technical advice to millwrights (as appropriate)
  • Work with, the reliability engineer and inspectors for clarification on any new work order requests from inspectors.
  • Compile and continually update the four week work schedule for all planned corrective related repairs for maintenance and process.
  • Take a proactive approach to contingency and strategic planning and seek input from other departments on shutdown planning.
  • This function will also provide input to the plant budget complete with the data required and cost tracking for successful completion.
  • The position will require good facilitation skills, take objectives views, a high level of problem solving skills, good organizational skills and able to manage projects from conception to completion.
  • The Planner must be able to estimate, budget, and interact with contractors and vendors while keeping projects within cost parameters. This position requires interaction with all operating groups as well as the Maintenance Department.
  • The planner will be a source of support for both the Operating groups as well as the Maintenance Department. This position will be called upon to provide corrective action for repetitive problems, as well as areas of abnormally high cost. The incumbent will have the ability to utilize cross-functional support to assist with problem solving.
  • The Planner will provide input to the Maintenance Manager for the annual maintenance budget.
  • The Planner may be required to act in a supervisory role as required within the plant.
  • The planner will be responsible for being on call, to cover mechanical problems as are the other supervisory staffs.
  • To serve as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, continuous improvement, safety and environmental stewardship to ensure alignment with the company’s vision.
Qualifications
  • Have a good understanding of the process and an overall plant view.
  • Be the principal reviewer of all work requests entered into the CMMS system.
  • Involvement in Root Cause Failure Analysis efforts.
  • Will possess strong problem solving skills and good trouble-shooting skills.
  • Have good mechanical background and education.
  • Have good facilitation skills.
  • Will provide weekly schedule – integration of projects.
  • Will have good organizational skills.
  • From time to time will review department procedures, suggest improvements.
  • Must be able to write clear, concise business case.
  • Will have the ability to interact with operating groups as well as within maintenance department.
  • Will provide information and facilitate as required for the weekly and daily operation and maintenance meeting.
  • Will communicate regularly with the operating groups to obtain details about problems or concerns they have about equipment and the way it affects the process or restricts production levels.
 
Requirements
Education: BS Degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent based on past job experience
Experience: 5+ years Planning in an Industrial Environment.
Proficiencies and knowledge: Preferable cement process knowledge. Proficiencies in Predictive and Preventative Maintenance. Candidate should have a strong maintenance background with an emphasis on planning. Strong computer skills and CMMS systems, with a background in Microsoft project would be preferable. Ability to communicate written and verbal in an effective manner on all levels. Team player who will achieve the goals of the organization through both internal and external personnel.
Physical Requirements: Requires physical dexterity and strength to lift heavy objects and move through close areas. Physical environment in the plant is dusty, noisy and potentially hazardous. Requires some travel.
