Quarry Mine Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quarry Superintendent manages general quarrying, crushing operations and quarry property.  The employee will plan for short- and long-term production.  Establishes blasting patterns and general preventative maintenance programs for quarry operations. Manages budgets and ensures long-term availability of raw goods for production  needs. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.  Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Moderate to high stress level both physically and mentally
  • Exposed to extreme outdoor environments, heat and cold
  • Working in the above extreme outdoor environments is required
  • Some degree of extended periods of physical exertion when necessary
  • Working in and around high heat processes
  • Supervising a crew of up to 12 men
  • Driving frequently
  • Climbing of steps is required in moderation
  • Climbing of ladders is required in moderation
  • Working/climbing on uneven, unstable rock piles
  • Fine manipulation; keyboard/mouse work



EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
 
  • 3+ years of managerial experience
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments
  • Excellent communication skills – listening, verbal, written (report writing), and presentation.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Tools.
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Follow and enforce Mine Safety and Health Administration rules and regulations, working in tandem with the company Safety Manager.
  • Direct and supervise all production activities, from drilling and blasting to quality control of the end products.
  • Ensure all equipment at the plants is properly maintained and ready for operation at the start of each scheduled production shift.
  • Audit existing maintenance plans and modify as required in an effort to strive for optimal efficiency of plant operations at all times.
  • Ensure the competence and development of employees by initiating training, coaching, counseling, or discipline procedures on a continuous basis.
  • Work in coordination with the Mine Development Department to execute efficient extraction of limestone per the engineered mine design plan.
