Process Engineer - Development Role

York, PA
Summary of Role:
Position is to support plant performance objectives through equipment inspections, process studies, monitoring process operating & control parameters, and the completion of equipment line audits.  Assist the Technical Director and the Plant Managers in the implementation of plant improvement projects such as capacity increase, quality improvement, power consumption and heat consumption reduction.

Reporting Line and Organizational Relationships:
Reports directly to the Technical Director of Manufacturing.  Interfaces with plant managers and plant departments to align priorities and support.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate and drive the plant safety culture.
  • Perform equipment inspections and process audits as required – including mass and heat balances, gas analysis, flow measurements, and mill grinding charge evaluation.
  • Organize, initiate, and interpret the results of process inspections/studies and to develop recommendations.
  • Communicate and develop working relationships at all levels of the plant(s) and the corporate organizations.
  • Provide technical assistance to Quality, Maintenance, and Production departments.
  • Regular reviews of plant(s) operating and performance trends.
  • Coach and mentor control room operators on process related subject matter. Identify operational deficiencies. Work with other plant departments to identify and implement improvements.
  • Review operational data to identify areas of inconsistency’s that can be improved.
  • Partner with Quality, Maintenance and Production departments to ensure plant KPI’s are met.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability’s:
  • Required education: Bachelor's
  • Required field of study: Engineering (Chemical, Materials, Industrial, Mechanical, Environmental, Mining, Manufacturing, Marine or other related) branch of engineering.
  • Required work experience: 2 to 3 year’s experience.
  • Required Travel Requirements: 5%
  • Required computer and software skills: Strong computer software skills (spreadsheet and/or database) required, SAP experience a plus.
  • Large group/audience presentation skills
  • Analytical skills and the ability to communicate findings
  • Root cause analysis

Candidate Profile:
  • Developmental role must have willingness to accept elevated positions within the plant’s (Waco TX or York PA) or Technical Sales Manager position within the Sales Department (Region TBD).
  • Mobility: dependent upon opportunity, willingness to relocate
